UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS AT AUBERGINE

Cooking Classes with Chefs Grosjean and Mendoza

Food lovers and amateur chefs can indulge their passion for cooking by being among the small group gathering in the kitchen at Aubergine with executive chef Christophe Grosjean and executive pastry chef Ron Mendoza as they continue their popular hands-on sessions. Participants will work in the kitchen of Aubergine directly with each chef as he teaches a variety of cooking techniques and use of ingredients, easy techniques that can turn an ordinary dish into a real star.

Classes take place from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and are limited to 10 people. The cost is $100 per person, plus tax and service fee. Reservations are required and may be made by telephoning 831-622-5907

Farm-to-Table Dinner - March 19

From the ocean right outside our door, the nearby fields and streams, hen houses, barnyards and vineyards, come the ingredients for this special five-course locavore dinner as only executive chef Christophe Grosjean and pastry chef Ron Mendoza can create. $125 per person, including wine pairings selected by wine director Thomas Perez. Pizza Secrets Class - Learn to Make Pizza Like Luca!

Learn the secrets of making great pizza at home from the experts at Cantinetta Luca. In this lively, hands-on, two-hour class with Neapolitan pizzaiolo Giuseppe Panzuto, you’ll learn about proper heat, making a great dough, shaping the pizza, different styles to consider, and everything else you’d want to know about the world’s favorite food. Maximum 10 people per class, so make your reservation early. $60 per person, includes pizza to eat and your very own Cantinetta Luca chef’s apron.

Spring Lamb Dinner - May 5

Springtime lamb is a culinary tradition that dates to the beginning of civilization. We will feature lamb from Rocky Mountain Wooley Weeders, an open range sheep herding company who specialize in raising milk fed lamb. and lamb on pasture grass. "About Hotel Luca" - Q&A with David Fink

Q. Why did you decide to build a hotel and restaurant in Yountville?
Napa Valley is a great destination, and Yountville is simply the best of the best. We wanted to have a presence so we could link our hotel in Carmel and vice versa.

Q. Where did the Tuscan influence come from?
In traveling throughout Italy we fell in love with Italian architecture. In building Hotel Luca, we so much enjoyed finding reclaimed antique buildings materials to use.

Q. Please share with us some of the unique materials used in building the property.
We have 200-year old roof tiles from Lucca, Italy, 300-year old floor tile from Florence, Italy, and antique beams from the midwest. The exterior of the building is custom lime plaster, an ancient technique used on some of Europe’s earliest buildings. Rustic Jerusalem limestone can be seen throughout the hotel’s lobby, spa, bathrooms and public spaces. All of the mahogany doors for guest rooms were specially designed and custom ordered complete with a speak-easy peephole door and cast bronze locks, bathrooms feature colorful artisan handmade glass tiles.
